Introduction
Uhlenhorst (meaning owl’s nest in German) is a well-known oasis in the south of Namibia on the border of the beautiful Kalahari Desert, 200kms south-east of Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. North of Mariental, this dot on the map seems little more than a large farm. It marks a petrol station and a general farm store, even if the latter has the farm’s own workers in mind, rather than the odd lost tourist. However, you might be surprised to learn that in the 1930s and ’40s there were two hotels, several shops, a post office and a bank here.
The Challenge
The road between Uhlenhorstand Mariental is well known for sheep theft. Henri Jansen from SmarTech, a Q-KON Channel Partner and our very own Manfred Engling from the Q-KON Namibia Office, showcased Twoobii’s capabilities for internet connection to be used for monitoring the sheep’s safety via PTZ cameras.
The Solution
Henri Jansen has been asked to install 2 x PTZ cameras (CCTV) in order to monitor data usage. Henri has been able to confirm that the Twoobii works well with his CCTV system and the delays are not bad so it is able to move the PTZs around to monitor the area it is set out to monitor.
