Introduction
A key advantage of satellite services is the ease and flexibility to deliver services on demand and also at different locations as required to serve business.
Q-KON received a customer request to deploy services between his primary residence and a site 760 km away where he resides for 3 to 4 months a year for work purposes.
He asked if it would be possible to purchase a satellite unit and then move it between these locations to provide broadband, voice and VPN services.
The Challenge
The challenge with this specific requirement was that normally fixed satellite terminal installations are done by a trained and certified Twoobii satellite installer.
For this application, because the Twoobii terminal had to be moved between two destinations, the installation had to be adapted so that the user can do his own installation. Also, every time the service is activated is must fully comply with the network specifications to ensure reliable service.
These high frequency radios were reliable on favourable weather days; however, internet connectivity was not available at all. In 2018 a local internet shop opened in the then small town of TETE and our client could connect to the internet with a basic cost- effective package offered to them. Recently this service also proved to be insufficient and Farms-for-Africa had to find a trusted and 1st-tier business broadband service.
The Solution
To solve this requirement the customer used a non-penetrating mount and build a very practical and effective communication station using a standard travelling trailer as a base vehicle. Q-KON further provide the customer with the installation test equipment and tools as well as hands- on installation training.
“Many thanks for all the mails and work behind the scene. It is an honour to do business with Q-KON. Really enjoyed and appreciate the time yesterday with Shaun. Felt in very capable hands!” -Martin Knoetze
