Introduction
Sefalana was established in 1974, with 233 employees the holding company currently has 3 400 staff. Their head office is in Gaborone, Botswana and their primary focus is FMCG business. Sefalana has grown into a trusted household name in Botswana through establishing itself as one of the country’s leading businesses. The Group, however, remains well-diversified, with a strong, reliable presence in manufacturing of nutritious cereal meals, UHT milk, soaps and detergents.
The Challenge
Sefalana required reliable Internet connectivity to enable all business and commercial trading. Given the geographical locations of the stores, the network had to include an effective back-up option that can provide seamless operation in the event of a primary service failure. Such a back-up alternative must be ultimately reliable, enable equal performance for all applications, must be readily deployable and should not double the operational costs budget.
The Solution
The Twoobii satellite solution met all these requirements and was selected as the preferred back-up solution. The end-to-end network architecture was designed by VBN who are the prime service provider for this project and who ensured seamless implementation and operation. VBN is a respected and highly valued channel partner for the Twoobii service with strong network delivery capabilities.
“Sefalana has reported to VBN that they are very happy with the installations and the end-user experience thus far in providing a much need backup service for their business.” – Grant Shand (Technical Director at VBN)
