Unconnected.org and Q-KON partner to bridge the digital divide across underserved African frontiers
Unconnected.org and Q-KON have partnered to expand affordable, reliable satellite connectivity to remote communities, schools, clinics and economic hubs across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Through Twoobii Smart Satellite Services, the partnership combines GEO and LEO technologies to provide the right connectivity solution for each location—from affordable broadband to high-speed, low-latency services.
Together, the organisations are helping bridge Africa’s digital divide, enabling greater access to education, healthcare, business and digital services.
Leveraging LEO Satellite Services for Banking Connectivity
LEO satellite technology is transforming connectivity for financial institutions by providing low-latency, high-speed internet from satellites orbiting much closer to Earth than traditional geostationary satellites. Q-KON Channel Partners successfully piloted and deployed Twoobii OneWeb LEO services across leading South African bank branches, delivering secure, resilient connectivity for real-time financial transactions, SD-WAN, Wi-Fi, ATMs and other critical services. With high-speed, uncapped connectivity, improved redundancy and seamless failover, the solution strengthens network resilience and enables reliable banking services even in challenging environments.
Spotlight: Building expertise and expanding our reach with the Q-KON Service Partner Programme.
Q-KON is expanding its Service Partner Programme across Southern Africa to ensure customers receive professional installation and reliable local support for our Twoobii-OneWeb LEO services. Led by Adriaan Geldenhuys, the programme provides hands-on technical training to selected technicians, equipping them with the skills and tools required to install and support OneWeb solutions to Q-KON’s standards.
Training is hosted at our Q-KON offices, with Adriaan also travelling across the region to provide training where required.
Through this initiative, we are building a stronger regional technical network that enables faster deployments, consistent installation quality and dependable support for our customers.
